renovation homes punish
The original craftsmen used different materials, different techniques, and different proportions. Respect it or ruin it.
We work on Victorian terraces, Federation cottages, Edwardian semis, Inter-war villas — every era of Sydney's residential Sydney has its own quirks. Lath-and-plaster walls. Lime mortar joints. Tongue-and-groove flooring. Picture rails sized to specific timber heights that don't exist at Bunnings anymore.
Restoring these homes takes trades who've worked with the original materials. Plasterers who can repair cornices to match. Joiners who know how to source or replicate skirting profiles. Painters who understand how the colour scheme of the era actually worked. We don't strip out original detail to make the job easier. We work harder.
Our Premium Services.
Original detail preserved.
Cornices, skirtings, architraves, ceiling roses, leadlight, pressed metal — retained and repaired wherever possible. We strip carpets to check before replacing.
Period-trained trades.
Plasterers who can repair hand-cast cornices. Joiners who replicate skirting profiles. Painters who know how era colour schemes actually worked.

Why heritage clients choose us
Heritage homes punish builders who treat them like new builds. We don't.
renovation clients want a builder who'll spend two hours assessing a damaged cornice before quoting on its repair. Who'll source the right plaster mix from a specialist supplier rather than slap on standard. Who'll insist on a paint test before stripping a wall, in case there's something worth preserving underneath. That's the pace period homes ask for, and we work that way every time.
We've worked on Sydney homes across Paddington, Woollahra, Mosman, Balmain, Glebe, Newtown and the Inner West for years. Every era — Victorian, Federation, Edwardian, Inter-war — has its own quirks, its own materials, its own techniques. Our trades know them. The clients who hire us tend to be ones who've seen period homes wrecked by builders who didn't.
Sydney's period Home Restoration Specialists
Platinum Corp Construction restores period homes across Sydney's most established suburbs — Paddington, Woollahra, Mosman, Balmain, Glebe, Newtown, Hunters Hill. Victorian terraces, Federation cottages, Edwardian semis, Inter-war villas. Every era of Sydney's residential period has its own quirks, its own materials, its own techniques. Our trades have worked with the original detail for years.
period home restoration is a different discipline to modern renovation. The materials are different — lath-and-plaster walls, lime mortar joints, tongue-and-groove flooring, hand-cast cornices, picture rails sized to specific timber heights that don't exist at Bunnings. The techniques are different too. Get any of it wrong and you damage the home's character permanently.
What Our Sydney Restoration Service Covers
Every Sydney home restoration we deliver includes condition assessment, renovation council coordination, sympathetic structural repair, plaster and cornice restoration, joinery repair or replication, original timber floor sanding and finishing, period-appropriate paint specification, render restoration, roof tile matching, and integration of modern services (kitchens, bathrooms, electrical, hydraulic) that don't disrupt the renovation envelope.
period Council Approvals and Conservation Zones
We coordinate every period council approval as part of our restoration service. Properties in Sydney conservation zones across Paddington (Woollahra Council), Mosman (Mosman Council), Balmain (Inner West Council), and elsewhere have specific approval pathways. State Sydney Register listings have stricter requirements again. We've worked with every relevant council across Sydney's renovation suburbs and know the officers and the processes.
Preserving Original Features
Our default approach to renovation homes is preservation-first. We strip carpets to check the floors before replacing. We test paint layers before stripping. We retain skirtings, architraves, cornices, ceiling roses, pressed metal ceilings, leadlight windows, fireplace surrounds and original hardware wherever possible. We repair before we replace. Where replacement is unavoidable, we replicate from the original profile.
Modern Living Inside a period Envelope
Most of our period home restoration clients want the period character preserved alongside modern living. Open-plan rear extensions. Contemporary kitchens and bathrooms. Underfloor heating. Smart home integration. New electrical, plumbing and insulation. All of it can be done sympathetically — the trick is detailing the new work so it sits comfortably alongside the original. Done right, the home feels like it's been carefully cared for across generations.
period Restoration Pricing
Sydney home restoration pricing in Sydney varies more than any other renovation type — the condition of the existing home is the biggest variable. Standard sympathetic restorations sit in the $400,000–$1.2M range. Major restorations with full structural work and rear extensions can run $1.5M–$3M+. Every quote is fixed-price and accounts for the inevitable discoveries that come with opening up a Sydney home.
Book a renovation Site Consultation
renovation restoration starts with a site consultation by one of our renovation-experienced project managers. We walk through the home with you, identify what's worth preserving and what's worth modernising, and follow up with a feasibility plan and budget range.
